On Friday, March 6, 2026, the University of Electro-Communications (UEC) held the Kick-off Symposium for the "Japan-India Smart Technology Talent Development Platform for Society 5.0" in a hybrid format, taking place both at the e-Nexus Building on campus and online via Zoom.
UEC has been officially selected for the FY2025 Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) "INTER-UNIVERSITY EXCHANGE PROJECT" (Support for creating inter-university exchanges with Global South countries). This symposium was organized to declare the full-scale launch of the program, bring together our partner institutions and collaborative researchers from India for research presentations, and share our vision and goals for future educational and research collaborations.
The event welcomed approximately 60 participants and commenced with opening remarks by Dr. Shunichi Tano, President of UEC. UEC faculty members, along with researchers and students invited from India, took the stage to present their latest research and engage in lively discussions across the following six specialized sessions:
The symposium concluded with closing remarks by Dr. Masakazu Muramatsu, Member of the Board of Directors of UEC. Following the formal sessions, a networking event was held in the same building, further deepening the academic and cultural exchange between researchers and students from Japan and India.
Through the "Inter-University Exchange Project," UEC is committed to strengthening its partnerships with higher education institutions in India and fostering global talent equipped with smart technology skills that embody the fusion of "Information and Manufacturing" to realize Society 5.0.
