On December 3 and 4, 2025, the University of Electro-Communications (UEC) held the 3rd UEC-SAARC Symposium on Emerging Technologies (USSET2025). The symposium brings together the experts and competent students from UEC and SAARC countries on a platform and opens opportunities for cooperation and collaboration. The symposium welcomes all areas of emerging technologies with a focus on the following topics:
- Quantum technologies
- New light sources and applications
- New approaches to metrology, sensing, and imaging
- Nano-devices and applications
- Artificial intelligence & machine learning
The event welcomed approximately 36 participants and commenced with opening remarks by Prof. Yoko Miyamoto, Chair of the Organizing Committee. 3 students from India and 1 student from Pakistan visited UEC for one week and participated in this symposium. Also, faculty members from foreign/partner universities from India and Pakistan participated virtually in this symposium and presented online Invited Talks. There were 7 Invited Talks (3 talks from foreign/partner universities + 4 talks from UEC faculty members) and 12 Student Posters (4 from foreign/partner universities + 8 from UEC). The Invited Talks and Poster Preview Sessions were held in a hybrid format at East Building 6, whereas the Poster Session was held in person at Agora located at the university library. The symposium concluded with closing remarks by Prof. Yoko Miyamoto.
Following the formal sessions, a Reception was held to welcome the invited students and for networking purposes. Three students from India participated in this event through a student exchange program supported by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) under the "FY2025 Inter-University Exchange Project." Throughout their visit, they engaged in laboratory tours, research discussions with UEC students, and cultural activities, thereby fostering mutual understanding.
